The Kings Arms is a charming 500-year-old former coaching inn, built from Cotswold stone and situated on the corner of Stow-on-the-Wold’s historic Market Square.
You’ll be in good company when you visit us – Charles I stayed here at the time of the Battle of Naseby in 1645; The BBC filmed their adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s ‘Mayor of Casterbridge’ at the Kings Arms; Mindy of Mork and Mindy fame has dined here; the Top Gear trio – Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – recently breakfasted with us whilst filming in Stow; and James Corden of ‘Gavin and Stacey’ popped in to use our facilities!
As well as providing a warm welcome, great food and a refreshing drink, the Kings Arms makes the ideal base for exploring Stow-on-the-Wold and the Cotswolds.
The hugely popular Scott’s of Stow is directly opposite us, and we’re perfectly placed in the centre of town for an amble around the antique shops, art galleries, boutiques and gift and craft shops. Shop ‘til you’re ready to drop back into the Kings Arms for a hearty meal and a comfy bed!
And if you’re the more active type, we’re surrounded by a chocolate-box landscape of rolling hills, meandering rivers and ancient woodlands to explore.
